Mission: Education Programs: August 21, 2017 workshop held to educate farmers on soil microbiology and the practice of interseeding cover crops into a standing corn crop. Guest speaker from georgia related scientific studies on soil organisms and value of those organisms to soil health. The group also made a visit to the field trial to observe growth and conditions of various species of interseeded cover crops. 77 people were in attendance dec. 20, 2017 workshop on healthy soils. Keynote speaker described cover crop benefits in controling weeds. Final observations from the summer interseeding trial were shared with the group. A third speaker spoke to the need for good communications between the farmer and their landlords to encourage soil health practices on rented land. 114 people were in attendance. website is continually kept up to date with pertinent soil health articles and case studies of soil health practices in use by progressive farmers in the group. This site is available to the 103 members as well as the public at large.

Mission: We are located in Albuquerque's Trumbull neighborhood. The people in this community are imprisoned by poverty. Our mission is to bring Jesus outside of our church walls and into the lives of hurting, hungry or homeless people. We are seeking funds to develop one on one mentoring and discipleship programs utilizing both applied arts, such as weaving, and fine arts, such as painting. music and dance.

Mission: Restoring emotional,mental and physical health to returning veterans through meaningful job training, employment and the arts. Programs: Desert forge foundation successfully executed multiple grants in 2017. These include: 1)usda, nrcs grant, 75,000; usda, 2501 grant, 200,000; 3) albuquerque community foundation, 60,000; 4)mccune charitable foundation, 15,000; 5) con alma health foundation, 10,000. These funds were used to provide training in agriculture, leadership, and business to 12 veterans and underserved community members. The albuquerque community foundation, a local philanthropic group, held a fundraising event netting over 60,000 in funds to help continue building new programs to serve our veterans. At & t selected desert forge as one of 30 recipients nationwide to receive a grant to purchase a food truck to continue training and employing veterans featuring locally grown food. Desert forge will continue to build on these successes moving into 2018.

Mission: To Assist homeless families in the Albuquerque community to achieve and sustain independence.. Target demographics: families experiencing homelessness Programs: In the Family Promise program, a host congregation furnishes clean, safe, overnight lodging and nutritious meals for four families (up to 14 guests) for one week every two to three months. Each morning, the families are transported in the network van to a day center where they receive tutoring, case management and help with job searches by a paid director. In the evening the families are transported back to the host congregation.

Mission: To encourage social empowerment through the growing and sharing of fresh food. Results: - Over the past 7+ years 40,000+ pounds of fresh, local food gleaned and distributed to the hungriest parts of our community. - Tens of thousands of packets of seeds given to the community. - Over 20,000 pounds of locally-built soil given. - Over 150 wooden garden boxes delivered during the pandemic that included soil, seeds, plant starts, and resources. - New in 2021 a space where we can host workshops and sell locally-made goods!
